St. Mud Avenue

St. Mud Avenue
Born as a duo between Stefano Ronchi, the talented blues guitarist of "Zibba", and Fabio Bommarito, singer, harmonica player and leader of the "Kid Blues Combo", "St. Mud Avenue" is a brand new project that involves five musicians from Liguria. They have different musical backgrounds established in the Italian music scene such as "Gnu Quartet", "Zibba & Almalibre", "Blue Dolls" and many others. Stefano Ronchi in particular has also its own international experience: attending Chicago, he played with Billy Branch, Lurrie Bell and James Wheeler. All the members have in common passion and respect for the tradition of rural blues, stomp and ragtime, without precluding some personal arrangements. Among the major influences of the band are Blind Blake, Mississippi John Hart, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Rev. Blind Willie Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Robert Johnson, Slim Harpo, Robert Belfour. They use rudimentary percussion, played with the feet, to make a concrete image of sounds and rhythms characteristic of the juke joints of the Mississippi of the 50s: suitcases, pallets, drums improvised dialogue with cello and bass, with hypnotic rhythms typical of the stomp tradition.
